My name is Maartje Schalkx and I am a conservator and restorer of art on paper based in Liverpool, covering Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Chester, Birmingham and the North West. 

Artists whose work I have treated range from Banksy to Picasso. And clients I have worked for include: Gagosian Gallery, Serpentine Gallery, The Whitworth, Victoria Miro, Wellcome Collection, Whitechapel Gallery and White Cube.

I received a BA in Fine Art from the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, and graduated with Distinction from the MA in Conservation at Camberwell College in London. I have over a decade of experience working with collectors, galleries, art dealers, artists, framers and public institutions, as well as private individuals. For the past eight years I was one half of Foley Schalkx Conservation Ltd, a successful conservation practice in London.

Originally from the Netherlands, I have lived in the UK for over 20 years, largely in Scotland and London. I am now pleased to have settled in Liverpool.
